Saint Martin's University provides full-service protection to the campus community through the Office of Public Safety which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Safety officers patrol campus 24 hours a day with an emphasis placed on crime prevention and education.

Our services

The Office of Public Safety has direct oversight responsibility for all operational and administrative aspects of campus safety and security. In conjunction with the Office of the President, the office endeavors to provide a safe environment for all faculty, staff and students in which to work and learn.

Public safety employs four full-time staff members and a number of student officers.

Our services also include:

Emergency phones on campus

The following emergency phones direct dial to Thurston County 911:

  • Yellow emergency call boxes: Arts Building (central pathway), Burton Hall walkways (second floor, east wall), Marcus Pavilion (front door), Parson Hall (front door), Spangler Hall (front and back doors), Spangler parking lot
  • Blue emergency lights: Baran Drive (near Meinrad Gaul Drive intersection), Saint Raphael employee parking lot, Parsons Hall (parking lot), Softball field (parking lot by sidewalk)

Evacuation procedures

Building evacuations can occur at any time when a fire alarm sounds or when you receive a notification from campus security. Be prepared and understand what steps you need to take.

Clery Act

Clery Act

Signed into law in 1990, the Clery Act (The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act) requires all colleges and universities that are a part of federal financial aid programs to disclose information about crime on or in the vicinity of their campuses.

Student Concerns

Saints Care of Saint Martin’s is a student support network bringing together campus partners—faculty, staff, families and students—to foster the success of each student in their navigation of campus life. Faculty, staff, students, and community members are welcome to submit a Saints Care Report for any reason.
