Alumni, parents, and friends of the University use this form to award potential first-year or transfer students who you believe will thrive in and contribute to the Saints community for an annual, renewable $1,000 tuition award. Recommendation form must be received in the Office of Admission before the student begins classes at Saint Martin’s University.

Eligible students

• Scholarship awards from the fund should be made to undergraduate, matriculated students enrolled in Saint Martin’s-JBLM programs who are making satisfactory progress toward a baccalaureate degree and who are in priority order
• Members of the Wounded Warrior Project/ Warrior Transition Battalion
• Active duty military personnel or members of the Military Reserve or National Guard (even if not on active duty), or family members of people in one of the above categories
• In addition, recipients must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
• Recipients should exhibit the special characteristics that are a part of the Saint Martin’s mission and that make Saint Martin’s-JBLM a special community of learners.
• Recipients discharged from their service component during the term of this scholarship must have been discharged under honorable conditions

Brief description

In the spirit of Saint Martin's commitment to service and community, Saint Martin's-JBLM is pleased to award a number of scholarships each year. America's Credit Union (ACU) and Major (Retired) Richard B. (Doc) Hecker created this scholarship to assist military service members and their families who are pursuing bachelor's degrees at the University. Recipients are selected on the bases of merit, service, and the quality of the written application.

The Benedictine Scholarship is an invitation-only scholarship that is awarded to students annually in order to explore the meaning and application of Benedictine values. Benedictine Scholars are awarded a $10,000 annual scholarship that is renewable for four years of an undergraduate degree.

Students who are invited to interview for the Benedictine Scholarship are those students whose superior academic records are matched by their leadership experiences, their contributions to the life of their school or faith communities, and their service to individuals and groups. Students are notified of their candidacy by their admission counselors.

Brief description

Graduates of Catholic high schools are eligible to receive a $2,000 renewable annual award. Students will annotate high school attendance/graduation through the admission application process and be notified of their eligibility accordingly.

Students cannot receive both the Parish Youth Leadership Scholarship and the Catholic High School Award.

Eligible students

For teachers, principals, paraprofessionals in Catholic schools within the Archdiocese of Seattle enrolled in the College of Education and Counseling.

Brief description

The Saint Martin's University Catholic school special tuition program will provide a 50 percent occupational special tuition to full-time religious and lay teachers, principals and paraprofessionals of Catholic schools which are under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Seattle. This special tuition will apply to students that are fully accepted into any College of Education and Counseling program. Individuals who are employed on a part-time basis will not be eligible for the program. Application for this special tuition must be submitted at least two weeks before the academic session in which a course in being offered. Saint Martin's University reserves the right to limit the number of Catholic school special tuition program participants in any particular course or program. It is understood that students will be admitted on a space available basis. It is likewise understood that this tuition grant program is not retroactive.

Description

In support of the FIRST® mission, Saint Martin’s University is making available five (5) scholarships valued at $1,000 per year and renewable over the course of four years.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must:

• Have participated on a FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC®) or a FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC®) Team during high school.
• Be a current Senior in High School
• Apply and be admitted to Saint Martin’s University as a full-time student. Students in the process of applying for admission at Saint Martin's can also apply for the FIRST® scholarship

Description

This endowment was established by Ken and Nancy Anderson, friends of Saint Martin’s University in honor of Kathy Hartman, their close friend, one-time business partner, and longtime financial officer of Coldwell Banker Evergreen Olympic Realty Inc. The endowment is established in honor and recognition of Katherine “Kathy” G. Hartman for her years of support, dedication, and inspiration to the people of this community, especially the many people associated with Coldwell Banker Evergreen Olympic Realty.

Award Criteria

This scholarship is for undergraduate students with financial need who are pursuing an accounting major, minor, or concentration. The awardee should be intending to work in the field of accounting and Thurston County local. This award is intended to provide students’ financial aid/need for expenses of tuition, books, and/or fees at Saint Martin’s University. Kathy Hartman elects to review applications and make recommendations to the Office of Financial Aid.

The award is for a maximum amount to be applied to tuition and books and is not a cash award. The award can be used for expenses incurred by the recipient - during the specific academic year granted - and is prorated equally over the terms in that year.

Internal scholarship offered by Saint Martin's University

Students who are leaders in their Catholic youth organizations are eligible for an annual $2,000 scholarship. A letter of recommendation from a parish pastor or youth group coordinator is required. This award is for domestic applicants only.

Brief description

The Peter V. Vale Scholarship was established as a living memorial to Peter V. Vale, supporter, trustee and friend of Saint Martin's University. He was a founding partner of Knight, Vale and Gregory, Certified Public Accountants and a supporter of many other humanitarian and civic causes. The amount of the award depends on the investment return from a $50,000 endowment established by the Cheney Foundation. The award is for a maximum amount to be applied to tuition and books and is not a cash award.

The Saints Bound Scholarship is a full tuition scholarship for up to four years for incoming first-year students. This scholarship is covered by federal, state, and Saint Martin's University grants and scholarships--combined with the College Bound Scholarship.  To be eligible, the College Bound Scholarship requires students to enroll in middle school and meet the pledge requirements.

Brief description

Students with only Running Start credits, with previous bachelor's degrees, or who are attending one of our extension campuses are not eligible. Students must apply for admission to Saint Martin's University. Upon acceptance, students must provide a copy of their Phi Theta Kappa membership card or certificate for verification. No separate scholarship application is required.

Scholarship cannot be added until the Office of Admissions receives proof of membership.

Students admitted to the university and to the LPN-BSN program are automatically qualified to receive a $10,000 merit scholarship which will be in addition to their GPA merit scholarship awarded during university admission. Award is based on full-time enrollment. Award is renewable for a second year for LPN-BSN students.

Students admitted to the university and to the RN-BSN program are automatically qualified to receive a $10,000 merit scholarship which will be in addition to their GPA merit scholarship awarded during university admission. Award is based on full-time enrollment.

Brief description

This $30,000 scholarship is awarded to three outstanding transfer students each year. Only those students who meet the following requirements are invited to apply: 

• Complete 60+ semester or 90+ quarter credits by time of enrollment (Running Start credits are not applicable)
• Currently have a cumulative 3.5 GPA
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to community service

Any applicant who is a member of the Washington All-Academic Team at their community college prior to transferring is eligible for this $2,500 renewable award, including Running Start students. Proof of membership is required.
