Supplemental application for teacher certification programs

You have landed on the undergraduate and post-baccalaureate certification program application page.

The College of Education and Counseling requires separate admission for all undergraduate and post-baccalaureate teacher certification programs.

Application process

The application below is for students pursuing certification at the undergraduate or post-baccalaureate level. If you are interested in applying to the STAR or Masters in Teaching program you will need to apply through the Office of Graduate Admissions. Once all documents listed below are received, the application will be submitted for review.

Exam requirements:

The state requires students in teacher preparation programs to complete a basic skills exam. This can be the WEST-B exam, SAT, ACT, or other approved alternative exam. To register for the WEST-B exam please click here.   

Pre-Program Observation: 

Having experience working with different aged youth is imperative to your success in the program. Students are required to have at least 10 hours of observation with children 6-12, at least 10 hours of observation with children 12-18, and at least 10 hours of observation in a K-12 school.

Recommendation Questionnaire:

Two Recommendation Questionnaires will be required. Your recommenders will receive an email with the questionnaire link they need to complete once you submit the application.

Fingerprinting:

Fingerprinting must be completed at an Educational Services District (ESD) site. To learn more about fingerprinting please click here.

 A meeting with the Program Coordinator is required before receiving an application decision. Please email education@stmartin.edu to schedule an appointment.

You must submit application materials all at once. You will be notified regarding application acceptance once all application materials have received and reviewed.
