My philosophy on education is that we’re born to learn. The brain thirsts for new knowledge and ways with which we can apply that knowledge meaningfully. My work in the College of Education and Counseling seeks to provide students with opportunities to infuse the knowledge, skills and dispositions they gain in our programs into their own work moving forward as future teachers. In a sense, I teach teachers, how to be good teachers. Having taught Special Education, Social Studies and History at the High School level for 12 years my experience and passion for the secondary world comes to light in the courses I teach and the community partnerships I make, especially with local area middle and high schools.
Born and raised in Bremerton Washington I am a Pacific Northwest boy and love the outdoors, especially hiking, kayaking and crabbing. I honestly love the rain too.
