Background

Chris has served over 20 years in higher education administration in diverse and progressive portfolios, including serving as a senior student affairs, enrollment management, and information officer. He currently serves as the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Kansas City Kansas Community College.  His administrative appointments have included Washington State University Tri-Cities, the University of Kansas Medical Center and Lawrence Campuses, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and Fort Hays State University in Kansas. 

Chris’ teaching experience also includes graduate and undergraduate introductory statistics courses at multiple institutions. He also founded a statistics and research design coaching company for graduate students and higher education professionals called Wayfinders.

His experience includes strategic planning, developing and creating student services, capital construction, and community engagement. Chris was named the only student affairs professional as a 2020-21 American Council of Education Fellow. Chris has served as region V director of NASPA: Student Affairs Professionals in Higher Education and was honored as a 2021 Pillar of the Profession in addition to numerous leadership roles nationally and in Region IV-West.

As a western Kansas first-generation student and proud product of Fort Hays State University, Chris has a deep passion and commitment to the social promise that higher education can afford. Chris believes accessible education and data literacy are the most effective tool against disinformation, addressing systemic barriers/privilege and other threats to democracy and personal growth.
