Course withdrawals should be used when a student is not able to successfully complete a course with a passing grade. Students are encouraged to work with their faculty academic advisor before submitting a withdrawal form. Withdrawing from a course will show up on your transcripts as a “W”. You will not earn a grade for the course and it will not impact your GPA.
Course withdrawals do not necessarily produce an adjustment to tuition. Tuition adjustments are based on withdrawal dates and number of credits. After final deadlines, no adjustments are authorized. Contact Student Financial Services before withdrawing to determine what impact, if any, there may be on tuition charges.
Withdrawing from a course may drop you below fulltime status. Students are required to be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits to be considered full time. Going below fulltime could impact your financial aid, please speak with Financial Aid before withdrawing.
Withdrawing from a course could also impact VA benefits. Students should speak with their Veterans Representative before considering a withdrawal.
If you need to drop all of your courses for the semester then you should withdraw from the university. Withdrawing is a good option if you are taking a break or are planning to transfer to another school. If you withdraw after the add/drop period you will receive “W” grades on your transcripts and your GPA will not be impacted. Students are encouraged to work with academic advisors while navigating the university withdrawal process.
We recommend that you complete the Exit from Saint Martin’s University form.
If you are receiving VA benefits, you may be required to pay back the VA for some of your housing allowance and book stipend, please speak with the Veterans Representative.
If you live on campus, you will need to speak with the Office of Housing and Residence Life about how long you have until you need to move out and if you are eligible of an adjustment to room and/or meal charges.
You should also speak with Student Financial Services to make sure you do not have an outstanding balance due to the school before leaving.
Medical withdraws are completed through the Dean of Students. Please contact the Dean of Students to discuss a medical withdrawal.
The Office of the Registrar has many roles at the University, each designed to assist students as they pursue a lifetime of learning and accomplishment. Some of these roles include: registration functions (add/drop/withdrawals), transcript processing, enrollment verifications, VA certifications, and graduation processing and diplomas.
