Background

Dr. Michael Butler is a WA licensed clinical psychologist and a member of the department of psychology at Saint Martin's University since 2008. He holds degrees in psychology from the University of Illinois (B.S. in psychology), American University (M.A. in general psychology), and Fordham University (M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology) and has worked as a professional psychologist in Washington since 2007.

In addition to teaching at Saint Martin's, Dr. Butler regularly publishes research and consults internationally on the clinical utility of mindfulness/acceptance, meditation, and yoga in psychotherapy, and engages in part-time clinical practice.

Areas of interest (professional / personal) 

Off the clock, Dr. Butler enjoys hiking and camping in the beautiful northwest with his wife, his daughter, and a one hundred pound German Shepherd who thinks that she is a lap dog. Other personal activities and interests include a personal practice of meditation and yoga, a love of movies, and passion for professional ice hockey (Go Blackhawks!).
