Tickets for commencement

Tickets are required for entry. We regret that we cannot make any exceptions. Each graduating student will receive six (6) tickets for the ceremony. Graduating students can pick up their tickets, along with their cap and gown, at the Graduation Fair held in the Norman Worthington Conference Center on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Children under the age of 3 do not need a ticket.

Seating accommodations and arrival

Doors will open at 1:00 for all attendees and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Marcus Pavilion has limited ADA seating available and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. No more than one family member may sit with the person who needs ADA seating to maximize the number of ADA seats available for those who require it.

Baby carriages and strollers are not allowed inside the Pavilion or the Norman Worthington Conference Center. Please plan accordingly.

  • Commencement photography

    Photos of each graduate on stage will be taken by a professional photographer. Information will be provided to the graduates on how to get copies of these photos.

    We kindly ask that audience members remain in their seats during commencement to allow the rest of the audience an unobstructed view of their graduate.

Caps and gowns, rings and announcements

Graduating students can pick up their cap and gown at the Graduation Fair held in the Norman Worthington Conference Center on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Rings can also be ordered at Graduation Fair or the University Bookstore. Announcements can be purchased through the University Bookstore.

Graduating with honors

Undergraduate students are eligible for honors if they have completed their last 32 hours in residency and have a cumulative GPA of:

3.50–3.69Cum laude
3.70–3.89Magna cum laude
3.90–4.0Summa cum laude

Honor cords will be distributed on the day of commencement when the undergraduate students check in at the Grand Staircase.

Schedule of graduation events and ceremonies

Below is a list of related events, including events leading up to Commencement. In addition to the main Commencement at 2 p.m., the University hosts several program-specific ceremonies and events prior to to Commencement. We will share a complete schedule as details become available.  

  • Graduation Fair

    Thursday, April 28, 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
    Norman Worthington Conference Center

    Graduation Fair, also known as Grad Fair, is a one-stop-shop event where all graduating students can pick up their commencement tickets as well as their cap and gown. They can also order rings, consult with Student Financial Services and the Career Center, and get their pictures taken. 

  • Baccalaureate Mass and Hooding Ceremony

    Friday, May 6, 4:30 p.m.
    Marcus Pavilion

    All graduating students are invited to attend the Baccalaureate Mass on Friday, May 6 at 4:30 p.m. in the Marcus Pavilion. Following the mass, both bachelor degree candidates and master degree candidates will be hooded. No reservations or tickets are required for this event.

  • Alumni Reception

    Saturday, May 7, immediately following Commencement
    Lawn near the base of the Grand Staircase

    The Saint Martin's Alumni Association hosts a reception for all graduating students and their families immediately following Commencement on Saturday, May 7. The reception is in a large tented area on the campus lawn west of the Grand Staircase. No reservations or tickets are required for this event.
