Background

Dawn Stremel earned her undergraduate degrees from the University of Washington in Trumpet Performance, Music Education, and Conducting & Arranging. For many years, Dawn performed regularly as a guest soloist in the Seattle area as well as performed with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the Seattle Opera Orchestra, Seattle Pro Musica, the Seattle Brass Ensemble, and many other freelance groups. In addition to performing professionally, Dawn also taught in the public schools for 20 years, earning numerous teaching and leadership awards for her work with student musicians. She arranged many works for wind ensemble and jazz ensemble, as well as authored several instructional manuals for private trumpet and intermediate to advanced band methodologies.

Dawn earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Antioch University, and went on to work on a Ph.D. in Adult Learning from the Fielding Institute in Santa Barbara, California. After retiring from music and teaching in 2003, Dawn earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology, specializing in Child, Couple, and Family Therapy, and has maintained a private practice in Olympia for the last 15 years.
