About English placement testing
All students entering Saint Martin’s University who have not already completed a standard first-year writing course at another college or university (i.e., English 101, English 102 or equivalent) are required to take the English placement exam before registering for COR 120 or any English courses.
The English Department at Saint Martin’s University uses the WritePlacer exam for its placement purposes, which is administered by Accuplacer and the College Board. Students who receive a four or lower on the English placement exam must enroll in ENG 100: English skills, while those who receive a five or higher may enroll in COR 120: Critical reading & writing.
Once newly admitted students have made their $200 deposit, they will receive an email from Accuplacer with an individual voucher number and instructions on how to complete the placement exam online. For additional information on completing the online exam, visit examity.com/accuplacer-students.
For more information about English placement testing or technical issues related to linking to the exam through Accuplacer, please contact Amy Stewart-Mailhiot, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
