Background
Fr. Damien-Joseph Rappuhn, O.S.B., is Assistant Director of Campus Ministry and University Chaplain, taking responsibility for sacramental ministry and faith formation in the Office of Campus Ministry. Prior to joining Saint Martin's Abbey as a monk in 2017, Fr. Damien worked for Saint Martin's University as Web Content Manager after a short career in online marketing, business development, and ebook development. Fr. Damien made solemn vows as a monk of Saint Martin's in 2021, and was ordained to the priesthood in 2026.
After having seen the world throughout his youth raised in a military family, Fr. Damien settled in the Pacific Northwest after graduating from high school in Germany. His short answer to the question, "where are you from?" became Bellingham, where he lived for nearly 10 years prior to coming to Lacey to work for Saint Martin's University. Having inherited a stubborn love for the Seattle Mariners from his grandfather, Fr. Damien strives to share that loyalty and commitment with others. You'll find him in his element when swinging a baseball bat, hiking in the PNW mountains, or saying Mass in the abbey church.
