International students

Saint Martin’s defines any person needing a U.S. visa (e.g., student visa, exchange visitor visa or other non-immigrant classifications) as international. Below are application links for undergraduate and graduate admissions, as well as a step-by-step process for international applicants.

Note: For any of the above applications, depending on your visa status, additional documentation may be required. Review the procedures and instructions below for your student type.

Application information

Applications for international students for our undergraduate and graduate programs are accepted for fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Below is a list of required application materials:

  • Completed online application
  • Secondary school transcripts
  • Test Score (English Proficiency)
  • Copy of Passport

Depending on your English proficiency: 

  • If you who meet full English proficiency requirements, you will enroll full time in their degree program 
  • If you do not meet full English proficiency, you may also be admitted as degree-seeking and enroll in English language coursework in our ESL Program either concurrently or prior to your degree program. 
  • If you seek to further your English language proficiency, you may enroll full time in our ESL Program.

Transcript requirements:

Submit completed secondary school grade reports/transcripts, external exams, and all university-level grade reports/transcripts with your application. You can upload an unofficial copy of your transcripts to your online account or request your school official to email the transcript to intladmissions@stmartin.edu. If admitted to Saint Martin’s, you will be required to submit official transcripts prior to enrollment. 

Only official transcripts will be evaluated for transfer credit. The university reserves the right to request a “course-by-course” transcript evaluation by an approved international transcript evaluation service for any international transcripts.


Once you have been admitted, you'll need to submit these additional materials:

  • Declaration of finances
  • Bank statement
  • International admissions reply form

To complete the process for your enrollment, you'll need to submit the following pieces:

  • Housing preference
  • International medical history records
  • English and math placement testing information

Below is a list of required materials:

Transferring from a post-secondary college or university outside of the US:

  • Completed online application
  • Official transcripts sent directly to Saint Martin’s University by all colleges or universities attended outside of the US.
  • Official evaluation of all university-level coursework and degrees earned outside of the US completed and submitted directly to Saint Martin’s University.
  • If you are requesting transfer credits for courses taken outside of the US, a course-by-course evaluation is required.
  • An official English translation is required for transcripts issued in a language other than English.
  • Proof of English proficiency
  • Copy of passport

 

Transferring from a US college or university (additional documents required):

  • Official transcripts sent directly to Saint Martin’s University by all US colleges or universities attended.
  • Copy of current I-20
  • Copy of current visa

  • SMU email
  • Housing application
  • Immunization forms
  • English and math placement testing information
  • Sign up for Transfer Orientation
  • Schedule advising and registration with advisor

Applications requirements for all graduate programs include: 

  • Completed online application 
  • Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended with degree conferral
  • English proficiency score report, if undergraduate degree is from outside of the US
  • Copy of passport
  • Two letters of recommendation 
  • Curriculum vitae (CV) or resume
  • A personal statement or essay addressing your talents, skills, passions, ambitions, and accomplishments 
  • Official evaluation of all university-level coursework and degrees earned outside of the US (Saint Martin's initiates)
