Post-baccalaureate Teacher Certification Pathway

The post-baccalaureate certification-only pathway at Saint Martin's University provides the opportunity to earn Washington State teacher certification without earning an additional degree. This option is ideal for individuals who already hold both bachelor's and master's degrees.

Why Saint Martin's University?

The certification-only pathway mirrors the MIT program but does not require graduate research courses. Therefore, it is designed for individuals who already hold both bachelor's and master's degrees and want to earn initial Washington State teacher certification. With the exception of the graduate research courses, the certification-only pathway follows the MIT course sequence, and the application requirements, program timing and curricular descriptions found on the MIT page apply directly to the certification-only pathway.

The certification-only pathway credit hours vary depending on the certification/endorsement area:

  • Elementary Education – 28 credits
  • Secondary Education – 25 credits
  • Special Education – 26 credits
