The Grow-Your-Own (GYO) pathway at Saint Martin's University provides the opportunity for special education paraeducators in partner districts to earn their Master in Teaching degree, initial teacher certification, and special education endorsement all while maintaining their district employment.
The GYO pathway involves the same coursework and program outcomes as the MIT Special Education pathway, albeit in a shortened timeline and slightly different course order. Applicants to the GYO program must be currently employed and working as special education paraeducators in partner districts, and they must have district approval to join the program.
The GYO program is currently open to paraeducators in the following districts/organizations:
- The Archdiocese of Seattle
- North Thurston Public Schools
- Olympic Academy
More information about the GYO program can be found on the Master in Teaching page.
