Gala 2021

This year's scholarship-raising event will feature Jacques Pepin and his daughter Claudine. To honor our recent 125th anniversary, we will honor our namesake, Saint Martin of Tours, with a Saint Martin's Gala hosted by Pepin, James Beard Award-winning chef and Dean of Special Programs of the International Culinary Center (formerly The French Culinary Institute).

Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021-Table, individual tickets, and sponsor reservations are now FULL.

We've had an outpouring of responses in Gala reservations and sponsorships. As a result, we have completely filled the room and started a waitlist . If you are interested in purchasing tickets, we can add you to this list. If seats or tables become available in the future, we will reach out in order of the waitlist.

The importance of scholarships

The Gala is Saint Martin's signature student scholarship fundraising event. An annual celebration of community, food and wine, the Gala combines two important Benedictine values: hospitality and stewardship. As we gather to break bread, we support our students, whose educational dreams are made possible through scholarships funded from the proceeds of this event. 

In 2019, alumnus Ahmadou Seck '11 delivered a message of appreciation for the financial support Saint Martin's students receive. Touched by his story, gala attendees contributed nearly $645,000 for the University's "Feed-a-Mind" scholarship program.

Gala history

In 2019, more than 600 friends and alumni helped raise $1.4 million for student scholarships. Our celebrity guest chef was Carla Hall, co-host of ABC’s award-winning series “The Chew." Hall first won over audiences when she competed on Bravo’s “Top Chef” and “Top Chef: All Stars." Born in Nashville, she grew up surrounded by soul food. A graduate of Howard University's Business School, Hall worked as an accountant before switching careers to become a runway model. Traveling through Europe, she realized her true passion for food. She became a trained chef, working in several restaurants in the Washington, D.C. area. Today, Hall believes food connects us all, and she strives to communicate this through her work, her cooking, and in her daily interactions with others.
