LACEY, Wash. – As part of Saint Martin University’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the health and well-being of the campus community, undergraduate students now have free and immediate access to mental health support through TimelyCare, the leading telehealth company specializing in higher education.

"The Counseling and Wellness Center is thrilled to partner with TimelyCare, which provides students with on-demand access to a diverse community of mental health professionals 24/7," said Director of the Counseling and Wellness Center Lindsay Meyer, Ph.D. “TimelyCare launched at Saint Martin’s in early July and has already directly benefitted student mental health, helped normalize conversations on mental health, and provided peace of mind to students, families, and the community-at-large."

Saint Martin’s is committed to making mental health resources more accessible to students, especially as students navigate college life through this pandemic. In addition to providing resources, Saint Martin’s is actively seeking opportunities to expand its resources for its BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) students. 52% of our undergraduate students identify as being ethnically diverse. TimelyCare allows students to see the profiles, faces, and specialty care details of a diverse range of licensed physicians and counselors available to them. With these options, students will have the option to meet with a specific provider or select the first available.

“Increasing our mental health offerings to include virtual as well as face-to-face allows us to meet the demand as well as expand choices for all our students,” said Dean of Students Melanie Richardson.

TimelyMD developed its proprietary TimelyCare technology to offer students a 24/7 extension of campus health and counseling center resources that is as easy and convenient as making a video or phone call. Through the TimelyCare app on their phone or other devices, Saint Martin University students can now select from a wide-ranging menu of virtual care options from licensed physicians and counselors in all 50 states – at no cost to them and without the hassle of traditional insurance – including:

●       On-demand mental health support (TalkNow)

●       Appointment-based mental health counseling

Demand for teletherapy visits skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to be high even as everyday activities resume. Mental health remains the top concern of college and university presidents, and more than 60 percent of students who have sought mental health support from TimelyCare said they would have done nothing if the service were not available to them.

Saint Martin’s University is an independent coeducational university, with undergraduate and graduate offerings, located on a wooded campus of more than 300 acres in Lacey, Washington. Established in 1895 by the Catholic Order of Saint Benedict, the University is one of 13 Benedictine colleges and universities in the United States and Canada, and the only one west of the Rocky Mountains.
