LACEY, Wash. — Yes! There is another occasion to wear your vibrant red sweater between Christmas and Valentine’s Day! Get your red on – lots of it – Jan. 19 and plan for a night full of fun and excitement at Saint Martin’s University’s Marcus Pavilion, 5300 Pacific Ave. SE, when the Saints Men’s Basketball game is televised live on ROOT Sports TV. The Men Saints take on the Montana State University-Billings Yellowjackets at 9 p.m. and hope to have a sea of fans, all awash in red for the cameras, to cheer them on for Pack the Pavilion night. Plan to come early: the Women Saints will be playing the University of Alaska – Fairbanks at 6:30 p.m., and several events are in the works to fill the hours before both the women’s and men’s games.

Launched in 2011, ROOT Sports is a regional sports network, and its Northwest network is the home of the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Sounders FC and the Portland Timbers, as well as numerous other professional and collegiate sports teams in the Pacific Northwest. The ROOT Sports regional networks combine to reach more than 13 million homes across 22 states.

Athletic Director Bob Grisham says the game will mark the fifth year ROOT Sports has televised from Saint Martin’s, and it just keeps getting better: “This game has established itself as an event our team, students, alumni and community look forward to being a part of. It's great to see our students get creative and crazy as they get caught up in the excitement of hosting a TV game and supporting their team. Pack the Pavilion has really become an event where a wide variety of Saint supporters come out to enjoy some good basketball and be part of a lot of positive energy.”

Plan to bring a friend to the games! Tickets for ROOT Sports #PACKTHEPAVILION night are buy one/get one free and include admission to both the women’s and men’s games. Tickets are $6 for adults; $4 for seniors, military and non-SMU students with student IDs; and $3 for students between 12 and 18 years of age. Admission for Saint Martin’s students and children 11 and under is free.

For students, a between-games pep rally will be at 8 p.m. at the Trautman Union Building on campus. Games, food and drink will be served with a side of cheerleading to accelerate the fun factor. Students are invited to dress in their “Don’t Tread on Red” shirts and other red Saints gear for the event and the game.

Saints fans who are over 21 are invited to attend a Warming Up With the Saints Tailgate between games at the University’s Norman Worthington Conference Center, adjacent to the pavilion. Tickets to the event are $10 ($5 for Saints faculty and staff) at the door, and include appetizers and beverages.

Fans who can’t attend the game can watch from home by tuning in to ROOT Sports. Not sure what channel the games are on? For channel listings, go to
