O'Grady Library visitor policy (interim)

The O'Grady Library primarily serves the students, faculty and staff of  Saint Martin's University.  However, community patrons are welcome to visit the library, check-out Saint Martin's books and access electronic resources within the restrictions below.

Monk card (library card)

  • Most community patrons are required to apply for an O'Grady Library monk card in order to check out O'Grady Library books and to request on-site computer access for personal research.
  • The monk card application requires two forms of identification.  A state driver's license or ID card and a second ID which confirms name and current address (may be a utility bill or similar correspondence).
  • Guests 18 years of age or younger must be registered by their parent or guardian.  Parents or guardians will be held accountable for any misuse or damage of materials, equipment or furniture.
  • Community patrons will be asked to renew their monk card annually.
  • Monk card holders are bound by all normal library policies including the guest acceptable use agreement policy (page two of the monk card application) when using computers.
  • Monk card patrons may only have five books checked out at one time.
  • Monk card holders do not have access to desktop scanners, CD burners, digital cameras or other media equipment.

Summit and Evergreen library card holders

  • Those patrons with current cards from The Evergreen State College  may use these cards in place of a Monk Card.
  • Summit patrons do not need to apply for a Monk Card, but will receive a Summit visiting patron card.  Summit patrons may check out any circulating material (except media equipment).
  • Summit and Evergreen library card holders are bound by all normal library policies including the guest acceptable use agreement (page two of the monk card application) when using computers.  While a monk card itself is not required for these card holders, the application includes the acceptable use agreement and will need to be signed prior to any computer use.
