Background

Theo is primarily a historian of American science, culture and environment. Their writing has appeared in publications including Arcadia, Notches, Genealogies of Modernity and the U.S. Intellectual History Blog. Their unpublished essay, “A Profane Communion,” was longlisted for the VanderMey Nonfiction Prize at Ruminate magazine.

Theo previously worked as an archive and museum specialist. Their roles supported the missions of McKissick Museum, University of South Carolina Libraries, and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, among others. They have been a Franklin Fellow at UPenn and a fellow at the Collegium Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture.

Theo is currently at work on a book manuscript entitled Silents Reflections: Essays on Early Film. They are an active member of Temple Beth Hatfiloh in Olympia.
