Biography

Katharine "Katie" Opitz is a retired lieutenant colonel and registered nurse with the U.S. Army. She received several awards for outstanding achievement during her nursing career including the highly prized Evangeline G. Bovard Award for Professional Excellence. In retirement, Opitz is now president and owner of The Wave Car Wash, an environmentally friendly car wash chain with locations in Hawks Prairie, Lacey, Tumwater and Centralia. She serves on the Saint Martin's University nursing program advisory board.
