Oldest of three children in an Air Force family with parents from home states of Illinois and Montana, Fr. His mother was an educator specializing in reading development with a graduate degree from Pacific Lutheran University. She worked with children who had difficulties with reading comprehension at Lakes High School in Lakewood. His brother gave his life on active duty in service to his country, and his father also died of Service connected illness caused by radiation exposure.
