Following a rewarding teaching career with the Olympia School District for 32 years, I joined the College of Ed. in 2007. My work as a University Supervisor has allowed me to work with SMU interns at both the elementary and secondary levels, as they complete the most exciting, final phase of their teacher preparation program.
Using the co-teaching method, interns work with mentor teachers to plan engaging lessons to meet the needs of their students, practice effective classroom management and refine their instructional skills. As a member of this team, I represent the University. Observing interns, encouraging both professional and personal self-reflection, leading three seminars, answering questions about the Ed TPA--these are only a few of my responsibilities. By listening deeply to the needs of my interns and gently guiding their professional development, I strive to reflect Benedictine values.
In addition to serving as University Supervisor, I have successfully taught Ed. Practicum Level 1 and Level 2 as a Senior Lecturer II.
