2019-2020 study tours

Analytical and Environmental Sciences in Spain

Oviedo, Spain
July 6 – Aug. 15, 2020
$9289 (estimated cost)

Science students rarely find study abroad options where they can take courses that directly contribute to their major, and don’t put them behind. For this reason, we are offering two courses that will count toward the Biology or Chemistry major or minor. Courses will be taught at the University of Oregon’s GEO site in Oviedo, Spain. Students will spend some time in the classroom learning theory, and will do field work collecting samples and studying the chemistry and/or biology of the surrounding area. Students will be in classes Monday through Thursday, and will have long weekends available to do homework and pursue their own interests.

The 7-credit BIO395 and CHM395 class is in Summer 2020. Students are encouraged to take both classes so they can qualify for financial aid. Participation in the study tour is required to take the summer course.

Please contact faculty leaders Arwyn Smalley (alsmalley@stmartin.edu) or Mary Jo Hartman (mhartman@stmartin.edu) if you have any questions

The 4-credit ENG 295/396 class is in Spring 2020.
