Do you want to schedule library instruction for your class?
If you would like a librarian to come visit for a library instruction session, an orientation session or a tour, please complete the library instruction request form. The form will allow you to provide specific information about your assignment and what you would like the class to cover.
Sessions can include (but are not limited to) topics such as:
- generating research topics and keywords
- finding sources
- evaluating sources
- citation management
- introduction to Saints search
- Specific database instruction (ex. PsycINFO)
Do you want a course research guide created for your students?
Your liaison librarian can create targeted course research guides to help direct your students to appropriate resources for their research. Guides can include links to research databases, specific items in the collection, discipline-specific websites, citation help, and more. Each major academic program has a subject guide, but you can also work with your liaison librarian to create course-specific or even assignment-specific guides. Not sure who to contact? Find your librarian or contact Kael Moffat, the Information Literacy Librarian.
Do you want to put items on reserve for your students?
If there are physical materials you want to put on reserve for your students to read, watch, or listen to, we would be happy to hold them in the library. The items will be held on the shelves behind the circulation desk on the main floor. Students can check these items out for either 3 hours or 3 days based on your preference. To start the process of setting up reserves for your class, please fill out the course reserve form.
Do you want to request new materials for the collection?
Collection development at Saint Martin's is a collaborative, on-going process that involves the entire Saint Martin's academic community -- faculty, librarians and students. The function of the collection is to support the academic programs of Saint Martin's and faculty recommendations are a core component of building those collections. The Library purchase request form may be used to recommend a single title or DVD, or you may submit a document with a list of materials. Please be aware that the library rarely purchases traditional textbooks due to their cost and rapidly dated material.
Do you want to schedule space in the Library?
In the library, there are study rooms and labs available for student and faculty use. Additionally, the library's new Multimedia Center offers video, photo, and audio editing software that can be used for creating presentations for class or conferences. Visit the library spaces page to learn how to reserve different spaces.
Do you need help with library technology or e-resources?
The O'Grady Library subscribes to a wide array of electronic resources including subject specific databases, electronic journals, ebooks, streaming videos and archive collections. Need help finding, using or linking to electronic resources? Contact Fr. Peter Tynan, the Discovery Services Librarian. For introduction or training on any of the library equipment available, please schedule a technology consultation.
