Showing of new documentary on Wal-Mart will highlight action night at
Saint Martin's University
Nov. 1, 2005
Lacey – The Saint Martin’s University Social Action
Club and Resident Assistant Programs will host a screening of the new
documentary, “Walmart: The High Cost of a Low Price,” at a Wal-Mart
Action Night Thursday, Nov. 17. The public is invited to attend the
event, which will be at 7 p.m. in the Spangler Hall meeting room, 5300
Pacific Ave. SE.
The student group’s screening of the film is one of
3,000 taking place during the week of Nov. 13-19 in 50 states and 19
countries. By Robert Greenwald, the documentary centers on the personal
lives of several Wal-Mart workers and their families and on business
owners and communities struggling against the colossal retailer. Filmed
by dozens of film crews on three continents, the documentary strives to
capture how Wal-Mart’s economic strategies and labor practices affect
not only Americans but also citizens in many parts of the world.
