Fundraising dance for natural disaster victims features Func Pro Tunc
Band
Nov. 1, 2005
“Dancin’ for Dollars,” a wild night of boogying,
will raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina and the Pakistani
earthquake. The event will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at Saint
Martin’s Pavilion, 5300 Pacific Ave. SE.
A suggested donation of $10 to $25 can be paid at
the door; those who can’t afford the price are invited to pay what they
can. Sponsors for the event are Tikun Olam (the Social Action Committee)
of Temple Beth Hatfiloh, the Saint Martin’s University Psychology Club
and Pacific Stage.
Dance music will be courtesy of Func Pro Tunc.
Formed in 1998, the 14 members of Func Pro Tunc hail from all corners of
the state; all are hardworking attorneys by day. On their second shift,
they’re a hard-driving, energetic funk band noted for great tunes.
The band has rocked conferences, clubs, legal-aid
fundraisers and more with music from Aretha Franklin, Sly and the Family
Stone, James Brown, and other favorites. Their mission, they say, is to
“get down, get on up, and get on the good foot! Their method: rock and
soul, rhythm and blues. Their motto: ‘Make it funky’."
To add to the evening’s fun and funds, sponsors
invite those attending to bring items such as knitted hats or scarves,
handmade pottery, jewelry or other items to donate for raffles. The
raffles will take place throughout the evening.
