Saint Martin's offers summer learning fun for youth Thursday, April 22, 2004 Lacey, Wash. - Saint Martin’s College welcomes students from elementary through high school age to campus this summer for a variety of fun and exciting learning opportunities. Programs are being offered this year in band, orchestra, science and engineering and several sports beginning in late June. Music This year’s program has been expanded with new classes in introductory jazz fiddling; intermediate and advanced brass; intermediate and advanced flute; and beginning and intermediate/advanced percussion. A seasoned faculty of area music teachers will lead the sessions. They include conductor, adjudicator, clinician and instrumental band teacher Greg Allison, Olympia School District; instrumental string teacher and Olympia Camber Orchestra concertmaster Mary Jo Rydholm, Olympia School District; instrumental band director and jazz trumpeter Tom Mettler, North Thurston School District; and orchestra director and Northwest String Quartet member Brent Pearson, North Thurston School District. The program is presented by Saint Martin’s and community partners H&R Block, Lacey-Westside, Music 6000, Music Service, R.L. Ray Violin Shop, South Sound Music Center, Westside Music Center and Yenney Music Co. Class sizes are limited. For more details, see the
