Saint Martin's College announces new director of extension programs

Lacey, Wash. - Saint Martin’s College is pleased to
announce the hiring of Cruz Arroyo for the position of director of
extension programs.
Arroyo will manage the college’s extension campuses at
Fort Lewis Army Post and McChord Air Force Base. About 600 Saint
Martin’s students take courses at the two extensions.
“We are delighted to have someone of Mr. Arroyo’s
caliber, broad experience and understanding to lead our extension
programs,” said Lillian V. Cady, the college’s vice president for
academic affairs. “He also brings to the position an extensive military
background, having only recently retired from the U.S. Air Force.”
During his 30 years with the Air Force, Arroyo held
several significant managerial roles, among them as director of the
largest Air Force C-17 maintenance complex on the West Coast. He also
was a training and education operations manager responsible for
supervision of programs related to Spanish language training courses.
He is the recipient of numerous commendations and
awards for resource management and training leadership, resource
employment and program development, and outstanding achievement in
international training.
Arroyo, of University Place, has a bachelor’s degree
in occupational education and has a bilingual-fluent certification in
Spanish. At the time of his hiring, he was completing Saint Martin’s
teacher education program offered through the base extensions.
