Lacey, Wash. - Saint Martin’s College is pleased to announce the hiring of Cruz Arroyo for the position of director of extension programs.

Arroyo will manage the college’s extension campuses at Fort Lewis Army Post and McChord Air Force Base. About 600 Saint Martin’s students take courses at the two extensions.

“We are delighted to have someone of Mr. Arroyo’s caliber, broad experience and understanding to lead our extension programs,” said Lillian V. Cady, the college’s vice president for academic affairs. “He also brings to the position an extensive military background, having only recently retired from the U.S. Air Force.”

During his 30 years with the Air Force, Arroyo held several significant managerial roles, among them as director of the largest Air Force C-17 maintenance complex on the West Coast. He also was a training and education operations manager responsible for supervision of programs related to Spanish language training courses.

He is the recipient of numerous commendations and awards for resource management and training leadership, resource employment and program development, and outstanding achievement in international training.

Arroyo, of University Place, has a bachelor’s degree in occupational education and has a bilingual-fluent certification in Spanish. At the time of his hiring, he was completing Saint Martin’s teacher education program offered through the base extensions.
