Saint Martin's honors outstanding student leader

Lacey, Wash. - Saint Martin’s College
named Emily Thomas of Dufur, Ore., the 2002 Outstanding Student Leader
of the Year at its Homecoming dinner and program on Feb. 8.
The annual award recognizes the
achievements of a student leader at the college. Nominations are
submitted by students, faculty and staff and the nominees are judged on
several qualities, including values, creative vision and leadership.
Thomas, 21, is a senior majoring in
business marketing. She is president of the student body government,
Associated Students of Saint Martin’s College. She helped organize and
attended the college’s yearly service trip to Mexico last year and
will do so again this May. She serves as student body representative to
the college’s board of trustees, is a member of SMC Alive, an
on-campus ministry group and is a member of the Saint Martin’s women’s
track and cross country teams. Thomas, who maintains a 3.99 GPA, has
been named to the Saint Martin’s dean’s list every semester of her
college career.
Thomas is the daughter of Bill and
Barbara Thomas of Dufur, Ore.
