9:00 001* - Advanced String Orchestra (grades 7-8) Rydholm/Sagerser
Advanced string players improve fundamentals, technique, musical, and performance skills during this session. Participants will play selected arrangements and original music from the orchestral repertoire. Materials: Instrument, music provided.
10:00 002* - String Ensembles (Violin, Viola, Cello - minimum of 2 years playing experience) Rydholm/Sagerser
Musicians will take part in a selected chamber music ensemble, grouped by age and ability. (Or, you can come with your own pre-formed ensemble.) The session will explore and perform string ensemble literature, including duets, trios, quartets and quintets. Materials: Instrument, music provided.
11:00 003* - Fiddling (Violin, Viola, Cello & Bass – minimum of 2 years playing experience) Rydholm/Sagerser
The Fiddling class is designed for the string player interested in learning fiddling techniques. Students must have a minimum of two years of in-school study or one year of private instruction. Instrumental and fiddling techniques will be taught with several American fiddling tunes. Materials: Music provided.
  004 - Music Theory (grades 6-8 or by permission) Ward
The music theory class is designed for students, whether listeners or performers, who want to have a better understanding of the language of music. Students begin with the basics of learning the staff and advancing to scales, chords and transposition. Materials: Alfred’s Complete Essentials of Music Theory.
  005* - Choir I (grades 4-6 or by permission) Born
No experience necessary. Musicians and non-musicians can come and explore the world of singing through a variety of choral styles from Bach to Rock. Materials: Music provided.
  006 - Drum Line I (grades 5-8 or by permission) Jones
No experience needed. Students will learn to read music and learn basic percussion techniques. Materials: 2B sticks and a 5 gallon bucket. Music provided. E-mail stickitdj@hotmail.com regarding any class questions.

007 - Drum Line II (grades 6- 8) Jones
Percussion experience necessary. The class will challenge students to more advanced percussion techniques by learning how to perform in a drum line and play fun ensemble literature. E-mail stickitdj@hotmail. com regarding any class questions. Materials: 5B sticks, snare, and 5 gallon bucket. Music provided.
  008* - Choir II (grades 7-8 or by permission) Born
No experience necessary. Musicians and non-musicians can come and explore the world of singing through a variety of choral styles from Bach to Rock. Materials: Music provided.
  009 - Composing on the Computer (grades 6-8 Music Theory 004 required or by permission) Ward
Do you have a melody running through your head and would share it with others? This class will explore the basics of melody and harmony, so you can begin to develop your own style. Materials: Personal laptop for class and Finale Notepad 2008 software (a free download at www.finalemusic.com).
  010* - Beginning Band (grades 4-6) Allison
The beginning band class will give students an opportunity to get a head start on their fall school music program or to simply explore learning a band instrument. Students will be instructed on the fundamentals of their instrument Materials: Instrument (flute, clarinet, sax, trumpet, French horn, trombone, snare/bells) and the Accent On Achievement Book I.
1:00 011* - Intermediate Band (grades 6) Allison
Intermediate players develop fundamentals, technique and performance skills through selected band literature during this session. Materials: Instrument, music provided.
  012* - Swap Band (grades 7-8 or a minimum of 2 years playing experience) Mettler
The Swap Band is designed for musicians that are interested in exploring a different band instrument. This class is ideal for those that need to learn to double in jazz band or who have been asked by their school director to switch to another instrument. Materials: Instrument and the Accent on Achievement Book II.
  013 – Instrument Inventions (grades 6-8) Sagerser
Would you like to make instruments out of wood, Styrofoam, fishing line, garden hoses and PVC pipe? Let’s have some fun turning everyday materials into playable instruments. Materials: Creativity and recyclable materials.
2:00 014* - Advanced Band (grades 7-8 or a minimum of 2 years playing experience) Mettler
Advanced players improve fundamentals, musicianship, technique, and performance skills through selected band literature during this session. Materials: Instrument, music provided.
  015 - Introduction to Improvisation (grades 6-8) Allison Students interested in this session will have an opportunity to cover the basics of improvisation, including style, theory, and many jazz related techniques. There is no specified instrumentation to the class as it is an exploratory experience. Materials: Instrument and Chop Monster 1 (purchase part I).
  016 - Flute Choir (grades 7-8 or a minimum of 2 years playing experience) Sagerser
Join in the fun of playing in a flute choir. Students will perform ensemble literature, while learning the history, methods and technique of the instrument. Materials: Music provided.
3:00 017* - Jazz Band (grades 7-8) Mettler
Jazz band students will perform swing and jazz styles and cover the basics of improvisation. Materials: Instrument, music provided. Limited to Jazz Band instrumentation.
  018 - Guitar I (grades 4-6 or by permission) Lawson
This beginning guitar class will give students all the necessary basic guitar playing skills, including note reading, playing melodies and chord accompaniment. Materials: Guitar and the Fender Guitar Method.
4:00 019 - Guitar II (grades 7-8 or by permission) Lawson
This beginning guitar class will give students all the necessary basic guitar playing skills, including note reading, playing melodies and chord accompaniment. Materials: Guitar and the Fender Guitar Method.
