MAC Admission Handbook:
Chapter 1:  Introduction and deadlines

Introduction to the Admission Handbook

Having learned a little about the MAC program, we can now turn to the application process itself.

We'll start with a discussion of deadlines.  Then we'll move on to what the faculty are looking for in a new student and how to actually submit an application to the MAC Program.

Admission Deadlines

The MAC Advisory Committee (consisting of the MAC faculty and selected professional consultants) prefer to review all student applications as a group.  It makes it much easier to give everyone full attention when our minds are fully on the application process.  For this reason, we have established some application deadlines.  For this reason, it would be helpful if completed applications to the program could be in the MAC office by these application deadlines.

DATES TO KEEP IN MIND

Summer/Fall Semester

Spring Semester

Packet needs to be received by the priority date - first Friday in April

Fall alternate date - First Monday in July
Packet needs to be received by the first Friday in November

February 15th is the deadline for Financial Aid Priority. However, you are well advised to begin the application process as early as possible, preferably before these deadlines. It takes considerable time for official copies of transcripts to be requested, processed, and mailed from the granting institution (often up to six weeks). Obtaining letters of reference can also take more time than you might expect since you have to depend on busy people who may put you "on the back burner." The bottom line is that it is necessary to have all materials received at Saint Martin's University by the deadline dates.

Most of the applications that are completed after the deadlines are automatically considered for the next entry period, in a "rolling admission" process. So, feel free to apply at your convenience, not just at these particular dates. Just understand that, unless there are special circumstances, we will consider the deadlines for decision purposes.  If there are special circumstances, let us know.  Exceptions to the deadlines are possible.  Since they cause some disruption to the normal running of the MAC program, they are normally granted in emergency situations only and not because of poor planning.
