History requirements

History is the critical examination of human experience in all its phases: political, social, intellectual, religious, cultural and economic.

The department’s objectives are to:

Assist the student in developing critical, analytical thinking skills essential for cultivating the mind.
Prepare students specifically desiring professional work as historians.
Serve the professional requirements of other departments by examining the history of peoples who constitute the contemporary world.
Help develop the student’s capacity for critical thinking, the requisite skill and knowledge base essential for professional work in government, business, law, journalism and teaching.
