History requirements
History is the critical examination of human experience in all its
phases: political, social, intellectual, religious, cultural and
economic.
The department’s objectives are to:
- Assist the student in developing critical, analytical thinking
skills essential for cultivating the mind.
- Prepare students specifically desiring professional work as
historians.
- Serve the professional requirements of other departments by
examining the history of peoples who constitute the contemporary
world.
- Help develop the student’s capacity for critical thinking, the
requisite skill and knowledge base essential for professional work
in government, business, law, journalism and teaching.
