The study of criminal justice
The criminal justice major is an interdisciplinary, liberal arts oriented,
social science program designed to prepare candidates for positions in the
criminal justice field and to provide a solid background for further education
in graduate or law school.
Criminal justice majors at the University
can elect to participate in an internship program that will give them an
opportunity to put theory learned in the classroom into practice.
The program enables students to participate in an internship program with criminal justice
agencies or related agencies such as law enforcement juvenile and adult
correction law offices, judges and the State Attorney General's Office.
The criminal justice program provides:
- A strong liberal arts background that
broadens career and educational options.
- Small classes, enabling students to
receive individual attention.
- A faculty experienced as educators.
- A rigorous educational environment in
which faculty members work closely with students.
