Robert A. Harvie Social Justice Lecture Series

The speaker will be Dr. S. Aaron Hegde, an assistant
professor of economics at California State University, Bakersfield. His
lecture, entitled “ReDREAMing the American Dream,” will focus on the
impact of the economy on undocumented workers and the related social
justice issues and policies.
Hegde received his Ph.D. in Economics in 2004 from
North Carolina State University. He has worked at California State
University as an assistant professor and as the director of the
Environmental Resource Management Program. He has also worked as a
visiting instructor in the Department of Energy, Environmental, and
Mineral Economics at Pennsylvania State University. His research
interests include risk management, agricultural finance, migration,
development, trade, and applied econometrics and decision theory. Hegde
is an accomplished researcher, with articles published in the Journal of
Family and Economic Issues and Library Philosophy and Practice.
