Graduation ceremony

What is commencement?
Commencement is the ceremony when degrees are conferred. Essential
elements include the conferring of degrees and commencement address.
Schedule and event
information for grads
Noon -
Graduates need to arrive wearing cap, tassel, gown and hood.
1:15 p.m. - Graduates will assemble at the bottom of the Grand Staircase (off
Pacific Ave.). If it is raining, assemble at northwest end of Pavilion
(by the softball fields). Graduates will receive an index card with
their procession number and seating placement.
Procession
Ushers will direct graduates row by row and will instruct when to leave
to go to the stage.
Receiving the diploma
The diploma should be received in the left hand, leaving the right hand
free to shake hands with Dr. Douglas Astolfi. As graduates cross the stage,
Abbot Neal will shake their hand.
Recession
Graduates are last to leave, following faculty. Ushers will assist.
