Benedictine Reading Room |
This room has
selected new books and current issues of popular magazines and
newspapers. It features comfortable furniture designed by the
library's architect, Michael Graves. The sculpture "Light," by
local artist Simon Kogan, was commissioned by the monks of Saint Martin's
Abbey for this room. |

Group study rooms
|
On the upper
level are two of the library's group study rooms, which are available by
reservation for student, faculty, and staff use. Contact the
circulation desk to reserve a room. |

SMU stacks |
This floor holds
the library's circulating book collection, organized by Library of
Congress classification number. The O'Grady library has been
designed to house 120,000 volumes. Currently, there are
approximately 80,000 volumes on this level. In the catalog, these
are identified by the location "SMU Stacks." In addition to housing
the the book collection, the upper level offers students a variety of
study spaces, including individual carrels, study tables, and areas with
lounge chairs. All carrels and tables have electrical and, soon, network
access. |
