Protect your computer, your data, and yourself for free!

    It is recommended that users run virus/malware scans whenever a computer starts behaving strangely, if unknown programs begin to appear, or if facing sudden slowness issues.

    To combat cybercrime, viruses, malware, and more, the ITS Help Desk recommends that Windows users enable Windows Defender/ Microsoft Security Essentials, and run at least SuperAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes routinely.   • Microsoft Security Essentials (for Windows): Consider downloading Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). It's free, developed by Microsoft, and it protects your computer in real-time! Note that MSE is built into the Windows 8 and later Defender feature.
  • SuperAntiSpyware (for Windows): This free tool, known to work best in conjunction with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, does wonders to remove viruses, malware, adware, spyware, and more! Download the free version here, and be sure to run scans whenever your computer starts acting strangely, or runs slower than normal.
  • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (for Windows): Here's another great tool to help keep yourself and your computer safe from malware, spyware, adware, and more. Download the free version here, and run it in conjunction with SuperAntiSpyware for best results.
  • AdwCleaner (for Windows): Another phenomenal tool for removing adware, PUPs, pesky toolbars, and hijacked web browsers, AdwCleaner is another powerful, free tool to have on your side.
