Requirements for a minor in religious studies

The Religious Studies Program prepares students to teach religion classes on the primary and secondary levels, to work in parishes as a Christian educator, youth minister or minister of music, or to become a chaplain in a hospital pastoral care department.

It also prepares students to enter seminary to study for the priesthood or ministry or to enter graduate programs in the academic study of religion to teach at the college or university level.

Nevertheless, the astonishing breadth of our graduates’ careers continually reminds us that, as a liberal arts concentration, religious studies prepares students to work courageously and cooperatively in the classroom of the world. By studying both ancient and modern texts, working internships and enriching their education through carefully chosen electives and co-curricular activities, religious studies majors graduate with the ability to harmonize abstract belief systems with practical activities.
