Financing your education

Saint Martin's University understands that the cost of a college education is a significant investment of time and money.  While each student and their family have a responsibility for meeting college expenses, Saint Martin's strives to insure that no one is denied access to a Saint Martin's education due to financial circumstances.  Our Office of Financial Aid is committed to helping all eligible, admitted students finance their Saint Martin's education.

Recommended Lender List

Merit scholarships and SMU Grant levels are based on the students’ entering GPA, need, and for incoming freshmen their test scores. Provided that you maintain the required GPA, have not exceeded the maximum timeframe for institutional aid, and have submitted either a FAFSA or FAFSA Waiver by the March 1st deadline you will be eligible for your full merit scholarship or SMU Grant.

If you do not submit a FAFSA or a FAFSA Waiver by April 16th your merit scholarship or SMU Grant will be reduced based on your FAFSA submission date:

  • 1-15 days late (4/16-4/30) aid reduced 10%
  • 16-45 days late (5/1-5/30) aid reduced 25%
  • 46 days to day before class starts (5/31- to day before class starts) aid reduced 35%
  • File FAFSA on first day of class or later- aid reduced 50%

Appeals for missing the FAFSA/FAFSA Non-Filer deadline will not be accepted. Exceptions may be made in the case of circumstances beyond the student's control such as illness or death in the family.

For more information on the GPA requirement and maximum timeframe please refer to the Satisfactory Academic Progress link below.

While students must be officially admitted to be considered for financial aid, students should not wait until they are admitted to begin the financial aid process.  When you fill out your FAFSA, you will need our school code, it is 003794.

We highly recommend that you fill out your FAFSA online, it is fast and easy.  Just get a PIN and apply online and get your FAFSA weeks sooner than a paper FAFSA!
