Meet our staff

Mary Sigmen
Vice President of Finance

Mary has been with Saint Martin’s University since 1998. She holds a graduate degree from Pacific Lutheran University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Puget Sound. Mary is responsible for managing the overall financial and business operations of the University. She supervises the Offices of Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, Student Accounts, Bookstore, Maintenance and the Mail Room. Mary and her husband Gary live in Tacoma and enjoy traveling and hiking.

Linda Newman
General Ledger Accountant

Linda has been with Saint Martin's University since 1991.  She was the administrative assistant to the business division for nine years and then moved into the finance office in 2000.  She was the payroll manager for two years and then was promoted to her current position as the general ledger accountant.  Linda obtained her BA in accounting in 2001 from Saint Martin's College and is currently pursuing her MBA.  Linda enjoys playing competitive tennis, working in her garden, traveling with her husband and spending time with her family.

Laura recently joined Saint Martins University in February 2007. She comes with 20 years of accounting and purchasing experience primarily in the manufacturing industry; most recently with Mutual Materials. Laura holds a BA in Business/Communications from Linfield College. An Olympia native, Laura, enjoys her two children, music, quilting and hiking.

I started school here in the Fall of 1999 and was hired in the Spring of 2001. I started with the IT Department as interim CRC Manager. I then moved to MIS and spent two years with the MIS department. I helped with the conversion from the VAX system to the system we currently use; PowerCAMPUS and Great Plains Dynamics. I then transferred to the Development offices where I worked as the Records and Research Manager for 3 years. I recently accepted the position as Accounts Payable Coordinator and have been in the Finance office now for 5 months.

I received my BS in 2006 and am now working on my MBA. I have been married to a wonderful man, Rick, for 15 years. We have 4 children between us and 4 grandchildren. We have two dogs, ride motorcycles, camp and fish. I like to do all kinds of hand crafts such as crocheting, knitting and tatting. I enjoy spending time with my family and having friends over. In my spare time I also build websites.

Debby joined Saint Martin’s University in 2004 as the Finance Office Administrative Assistant. She retired from the Washing State Department of Transportation after a thirty-two year career in office management and technical engineering. Debby lives in Lacey and enjoys fishing, golfing, gardening and reading.
