JBLM/Clover Park Master of Education program

About the program

For people who have earned a previous bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree and are certified teachers who want to pursue an advanced degree in special education, Saint Martin’s University offers the Master of Education at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) and Clover Park.

The program leads to a masters degree and is designed to meet the requirements for a special education endorsement in the state of Washington. It provides masters core classes at the JBLM extension and special education subject classes at the Clover Park extension.

To be accepted to the program, the individual must have demonstrated academic ability, certification as a teacher, and realistic career plans. (If you are seeking initial certification in a masters capacity, please see MIT information.)

A candidate accepted into the MED program can begin coursework any term and progress at her or his own pace. JBLM terms are eight weeks long. Courses are usually from 5 p.m. to 7:40 p.m. or from 7:50 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. two nights a week (either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday). Clover Park terms are 16 weeks long and usually meet one night per week. Some classes are available Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additionally, selected classes may be available online. Each course in the program is offered at least once a year and many courses are offered twice a year to give students flexibility in planning. For more information please visit the MED page.
