The entrance to the Abbey Church is a small courtyard surrounding a lovely, quiet garden. The gates are adorned with cast bronze medallions depicting themes of light and life, and the doors are made of carved oak. Carved on these heavy doors are images of scriptural passages, wood and trees (referencing the State of Washington), and the life of St. Boniface of Germany.
