Saint Martin's University is a community that welcomes students,
faculty and staff of all faiths and no faith.
In October 2013, the
Eboo Patel, Ph.D., founder and president of the
Interfaith Youth Core and author of
Acts of Faith and Sacred Ground. Dr. Patel gave a key
note address focusing on the creation of a youth movement that seeks
to view faith as a bridge of cooperation rather than a barrier of
division. In light of events such as the Boston Marathon bombings,
it is increasingly crucial to inspire the desire in young people to
lead their communities in interfaith cooperation. It is our hope
that Dr. Patel's visit will be a major step toward building stronger
interfaith dialogue and partnerships in the Pacific Northwest and
beyond. Interfaith cooperation and peace making are essential
components of the Catholic faith.
Saint Martin's University is
currently exploring approaches to bring the Interfaith Youth Core to
our campus in concrete and dynamic ways.
