Description
The Peter V. Vale Scholarship was established as a living memorial to
Peter V. Vale, supporter, trustee and friend of Saint Martin's University.
He was a founding partner of Knight, Vale and Gregory, Certified Public
Accountants, and a supporter of many other humanitarian and civic causes.
Specific criteria for the award of this scholarship is scholastic
achievement, leadership, character, citizenship and motivation. Financial
need is not necessarily a criteria. The applicant must be accepted into
the MBA program and have a strong academic background.
The amount of the award depends on the investment return from a $50,000
endowment established by the Cheney Foundation. The award is for a
maximum amount to be applied to tuition and books and is not a cash
award. The award can be used for expenses incurred by the recipient
during a single, specific academic year. e.g. 2002-2003 academic year and
is prorated equally over the terms in that year for which the recipient
intends to register.
Application procedure
1. Complete the Vale Scholarship Application Form. (Available
in the Business & Economics Division) or by calling (360) 438-4512.
2. Submit a personal statement that outlines the applicant's
goals and expectations.
3. Submit at least three letters of recommendation addressing
academic and community accomplishment.
4. Submit all documents to Saint Martin's
University, 5300 Pacific Avenue SE, Lacey, Washington 98503, ATTN: MBA
Director.
MARK ENVELOPE "VALE SCHOLARSHIP".
5. In the event that the Vale Scholar Committee cannot determine a
definite recipient from the documents submitted, applicants will be
interviewed by a selection committee.
6. The recipient will be determined by mid-April 2004. All
applicants will be advised by the Office of Financial Aid.
