Preparation for the CPA examination

The State of Washington revised the educational requirements necessary to take the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination.  Effective July 1, 2000, an applicant for a CPA certificate must have completed at least 150 semester hours of college/university education, including:

     -  A baccalaureate or higher degree
     -  An accounting concentration or equivalent, as defined
by Washington State Board of Accountancy.

The University's current major in accounting conforms with the Board of Accountancy's standards, satisfactorily fulfilling the requirement for a concentration in accounting.

Students seeking more information about the CPA education requirements and exam preparation should contact their accounting faculty advisor.
