Women’s Golf: Saints in third after day two
May 6,
2008
Phoenix, AZ – The Saint Martin’s women’s golf team
finds themselves in third place, just five shots back of leader Western
Oregon University at the end of the second day of the NCAA Division II
West Regionals taking place at the Legacy Golf Club.
As a team the Saints have shot a total 621, two
shots behind Tarleton State at 619 and five behind WWU at 616.
Four Saints broke 80 on the day as Amy Dalzell led
the way with a 73 on day two combined with her 75 from day for a total
of 148, just four over par, to put her in third place currently.
Stacie Henden and Babe Prante both shot 75 to put
them at 153 and 158 respectively, thus far.
Alexi Coltom had a two round total of 165 while
Lauren Roberts is sitting at a 166.
The Saints made a huge comeback on day two. After
shooting a 320 in round one they put together a 301 in the second round
to move from fifth place to third.
“They played great today,” said head coach Bob
Grisham. “We talked about that fact that this tournament was more of a
distance run than a sprint and they have put themselves in a very good
position going into the last day.”
The final round of play will take place tomorrow
with the top two teams advancing to Nationals.
