Women’s Basketball: Saints fall in final regular season game

Seattle, WA – Seattle Pacific completed their
perfect regular season going 27-0 with a 62-54 win over Saint Martin’s
in the final Great Northwest Athletic Conference match up of the year
for both teams Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.
The Saints were able to maintain a slight lead
through a better part of the first half but with the score tied 16-16
with eight minutes to play Seattle Pacific went on a 12-5 run to pull
ahead by seven. They would eventually take a five point lead into the
break.
SPU’s Beth Christensen sandwiched two threes around
a jumper by Kelsey Hill to start off the second half and gave the
Falcons the 11 point advantage.
Saint Martin’s was able to pull within six with
under a minute to play but Daesha Henderson sank two free throws with 29
seconds on the clock to put SPU back up by eight.
Back at their end the Saints missed a three, got the
rebound, and put up a jumper but could not get anything to fall. SPU got
the rebound and ran out the remaining 18 seconds to pick up the win.
Sade Smith picked up a double-double for the Saints
with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Amber Harmon led the Saints with 11
points.
The Falcons edged out SMU on the boards 38-37 and
had fewer turnovers with 16 versus the Saints’ 23.
Saint Martin’s finishes the regular season 17-10
overall and 10-8 in the GNAC.
