Women’s Basketball: Saints fall to Crusaders

Nampa, ID – A solid shooting Northwest Nazarene team had five players in double figures on their way to an 81-61 victory over Saint Martin’s Thursday night in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game played at the Skyview High School gym in Nampa.

The Crusaders, who shot 49.2 percent from the field, 50 from behind the arc, were led by Lindsay Brady with a game high 19 points. Jennifer Williams added 13 points and Nichole Shutte had 12.

Northwest Nazarene took control early jumping out to a 16-3 lead midway through the first half. But the Saints battled back posting a 14-4 run over the next five minutes to pull within three.

The Crusaders took a six point lead into the break and came roaring back in the second half, quickly doubling that to 12 in the first minute and a half. With the score 46-37 in favor of NNU, the Crusaders sank four consecutive threes to take a 21 point lead at 58-37.

NNU never relinquished their 20 point lead going up by as much as 28 before settling at the final 81-61 tally.

Dara Zack and Kassie Ludeman led the Saints with 12 points apiece while pulling down seven and six rebounds respectively. The Saints were outscored 27-6 from the arc and got beat 37-27 on the boards.

Saint Martin’s will play their final regular season game of the year on the road Saturday as they take on Seattle Pacific University.
