Softball: Saints drop final two to Redhawks

Seattle, WA – Saint Martin’s lost their final two
games of the year to Seattle University 11-0 and 11-4 in a doubleheader
Saturday at Logan Field.
Erin Martin threw a complete game shutout for
Seattle University to earn her 24th win of the season. Martin allowed
just four hits and struck out four in the game.
The Redhawk offense wasn’t lacking either as SU got
six runs in the second the tacked on five more in the third thanks in
part to triples by Katie Gould and Brenda Stice.
Kristine Kaneshiro, Lisa Holombo, Kirstin Davidson,
and Alicia Fuchs accounted for SMU’s four hits.
With SU up 5-0 in game two the Saints battled back
into it with four runs in the top of the sixth. Krissy Basset picked up
a RBI with a single down the left field line the Holombo doubled to left
center to drive in two more. Davidson capped off the inning with a RBI
single to left.
But the Redhawks used a six run sixth inning to pull
away for the win. Kelsey Reynolds picked up the win throwing seven
innings while striking out six.
Kaneshiro, who was 2 for 2, was the only Saint with
multiple hits in the game.
The Saints finish their season with a 21-33 record
overall, their first 20 win season in school history, and a 7-17 GNAC
record.
