Softball: Saints drop two at Western Oregon

Monmouth, OR – Western Oregon struck often on their
way to a 13-2 and 8-0 doubleheader sweep of Saint Martin’s Tuesday at
the WOU Softball Field.
The Saints scored first in game one as Kristi
Sigafoos homered to give SMU the 2-0 lead in the second but Western
Oregon broke things open plating eight runs in the bottom of the inning
capped off by a two-run homer by Amanda Fleer.
WOU would tack on two more in the third and three
more in the fourth.
Katie Fleer held the Saints hitless through the
final three innings to earn the win. Cassy South was hit with the loss
for Saint Martin’s.
The Wolves jumped out early in game two with four
runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the second for the
early 8-0 lead.
Jessica Wood allowed just four hits as she shutout
the Saints for the win.
Kirstin Davidson had two hits for SMU while Krissy
Basset and Lisa Holombo accounted for the Saints other two.
The Saints return home for a doubleheader against
Montana State Billings this Sunday, April 20th.
